State Duma deputy Khamzaev called for a ban on part of the anime because of “PMC Ryodan”

State Duma deputy Sultan Khamzaev believes that certain anime series should be banned. In his opinion, “anime content” contains signs of a “destructive nature” that can destroy traditional values. According to the deputy, “various destructive” is imposed in the anime through the 25th frame.

“It is necessary to restrict access to certain anime series and games in Russia. We analyzed the source of what was behind the attacks of individual youths in shopping malls. A kind of game that they wanted to bring to life from the plot, ”said the RIA Novosti deputy.

“Today, anime content contains signs of a destructive nature aimed at destroying our traditional values, interethnic and interfaith unity,” Sultan Khamzaev believes.

The head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, called Ryodan an obviously depressive-aggressive subculture. According to Ms. Mizulina, among anime fans, many “profess violence.” Roskomnadzor sent materials related to PMC Ryodan to Rosmolodezh for examination. The Ministry of Internal Affairs suggested that “everything comes from Ukraine.”

“PMC Ryodan” began to call themselves fans of the Japanese comics Hunter x Hunter, in which the criminal organization “Genei Ryodan” operates. Fans of this anime dress up in plaid pants, black T-shirts or sweatshirts with a picture of a spider and the number 4.

Attention was drawn to PMC Ryodan following a fight on February 19 in the Aviapark shopping center in Moscow involving young people dressed in such clothes. After that, the police began to round up schoolchildren who looked like fans of the Hunter x Hunter anime in shopping centers across Russia.

According to Mediazona (recognized by the Ministry of Justice as a foreign agent), she managed to find among the very first Telegram channel Ryodan. One of the posts said that the fight on February 19 at Aviapark took place over a domestic issue: a “company of athletes” attacked long-haired anime fans in black sweatshirts “just for their appearance.”
