State Department “condemns North Korea’s ballistic missile launch… Korea-Japan defense pledges are ironclad.”

Regarding North Korea’s launch of a long-range missile believed to be an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on the 18th, the US State Department said, “The United States condemns North Korea’s ballistic missile launch.”

This launch is a clear violation of multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions, and demonstrates the threat the DPRK’s unlawful weapons of mass destruction and ballistic missile programs pose to the DPRK’s neighbors, the region, international peace and security, and the global non-proliferation regime.”

“This launch is in clear violation of several United Nations Security Council resolutions,” State Department spokesman Ned Price said in a statement released today. It shows the threat it poses to the system.”

“This action demonstrates the need for all countries to fully implement UN Security Council resolutions to block North Korea from obtaining the technology and materials needed to conduct these destabilizing experiments,” he said.
