There is great discontent among the grassroots, and there are now calls for resignation from within the party’s own ranks. The LIVA affair surrounding Mayor Klaus Luger is still the political issue – and not just in the city of Linz.
State Councillor Michael Lindner (SP) has now confirmed to the OÖN that Luger will be retiring from all party political functions with immediate effect. The two agreed to this on Thursday – at Lindner’s instigation. Luger will remain mayor.
Federal SP leader Andreas Babler also called for Luger’s resignation as party chairman in Linz that afternoon.
