Thiruvananthapuram: Minister KN Balagopal will present the first full budget of the second Pinarayi government in the Assembly today at 9 am. As revenue increases are inevitable, there are indications that the budget will include an increase in taxes and development and welfare schemes needed for the recovery from the Kovid crisis. The economic review report that was tabled in the Assembly yesterday for the budget and the economic growth of Kerala last year are known today as it is with the budget this time.
The increase and reform are expected to include land fair prices, government service fees, motor vehicle taxes and various taxes levied by the Revenue Department and local bodies. The government will get extra revenue due to the increase in fuel prices and the tax hike in Iowa will be avoided. Liquor tax reform and own liquor production are on the agenda.
