The project is called “Life Sciences Master Plan”. Life sciences refers to various health areas: from medicine to biotechnology to pharmacology, i.e. the effects of drugs. More money is to flow into all of these areas in the next three years, the state confirmed.

Focus on education and research

The additional money should primarily be spent on various training courses in the relevant areas and on research projects. The aim is to train the best talents in Salzburg, said Governor Wilfried Haslauer of the ÖVP. In addition, the aim is to ensure closer cooperation between the University of Salzburg, the private Medical University (PMU) and the Salzburg State Hospitals (SALK).

Salzburg should also establish itself as a center for cancer research and neuroscience. The state also announced that there will be investments in cell research and care. The federal government and the state of Salzburg will each share half of the 15 million that will be invested over the next three years.
