China News Agency, Beijing, February 18 (Reporter Liu Liang) According to an announcement issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation of China on the 18th, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. decided to recall some domestic Model 3 and Model Y electric vehicles, totaling 26,047 vehicles. The reason for these vehicles being recalled is that the defrosting effect of the windshield is not up to standard, or the driver’s field of vision is adversely affected, posing a traffic safety hazard.
According to the announcement, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. recently filed a recall plan with the State Administration for Market Regulation in accordance with the requirements of the “Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products” and the “Implementation Measures for the Regulations on the Administration of the Recall of Defective Automobile Products”. From now on, some domestic Model 3 (12,003) and Model Y (14,044) electric vehicles produced between December 28, 2020 and January 15, 2022 will be recalled, totaling 26,047.
The announcement pointed out that the heat pump electronic expansion valve of some vehicles within the scope of this recall will move slightly when positioning, because the software (version 2021.44 to 2021.44.30.6) does not have a corrective function, which may cause the valve to partially open for a long time, the heat pump compressor stops working, the vehicle Internal heating function failed. Under the above conditions, especially when the temperature outside the vehicle is lower than minus 10 degrees Celsius, the operation of the windshield defrosting system cannot achieve the defrosting effect stipulated by the relevant national laws and regulations. There is a possibility of a collision risk when the vehicle is driving in cold weather, and there is a potential safety hazard.
The announcement stated that Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will upgrade the software of vehicles within the recall scope through the over-the-air update (OTA) technology, and users can complete the recall without going to the store; For the recalled vehicles, Tesla (Shanghai) Co., Ltd. will contact relevant users through the Tesla Service Center to upgrade the software for the vehicles free of charge to eliminate potential safety hazards.
The announcement reminds that before the vehicle is recalled for repair, users should drive the vehicle with caution, and contact the Tesla service center for software upgrades as soon as possible following the recall begins. (over)
