For the last episode of 2023, the Stat team showed us all the colors. This is where you need to stop reading if you haven’t watched this finale yet!!!
Last Monday, we met producer Fabienne Larouche, who warned us regarding this last episode of Stat: “When it ends, Thursday, everyone will want to come back on January 8. It’s well made for that! »
She was right: this episode contained a real roller coaster with, from one punch to the next, an ever higher peak.
The richness of Marie-Andrée Labbé’s writing
Even if the last seconds did not hold any unexpected surprises, this episode was rich in memorable moments. First, the death of the character of Alix Forgues (which was not that of Éric Perron, so feared by viewers). Then, the return of Isabelle Granger and Siméon, who surprised Daniel in the arms of Mylène Lapierre’s assistant on her kitchen counter. Then the tumultuous kiss exchanged between Claude Coupal and Pascal St-Cyr, which suggests that they already had a romance… The episode offered no respite to the viewers and was firmly put together by the skillful and ingenious author, Marie- Andrée Labbé.
At the very end, the departure by plane of Emmanuelle St-Cyr and Éric Perron, although expected for a few minutes in this episode, aroused many emotions. The sight of Eric, who seems particularly in pain, looking through the porthole, is striking. While it is reassuring to know that Eric will receive an experimental treatment for his ricin poisoning, we cannot be completely reassured until the doctors in Trenton have clearly stated that the treatment works… if the author agree!
Alix Forgues
Played by Karelle Tremblay, the character of Alix Forgues occupied an important place in the intrigues of this half of the season, particularly in the heart of emergency doctor Emmanuelle St-Cyr. At several points, we were impatient to see this young woman who was so insistent with Dr. St-Cyr. On the other hand, we became attached to her and her quest. We were hoping for a positive outcome for her, or even a recurring presence in the sequel to Stat.
Will Emmanuelle follow through with the DNA test and, if so, what will it reveal? Given her attachment to this extraordinary patient, she might do what is necessary to do her justice and repair the harm that was caused to the young woman. Maybe we’ll see Alix once more in some well-timed flashbacks? We trust Marie-Andrée Labbé and Karelle Tremblay, we hope for other great roles so that we can see her once more on screen.
A shaken heroine
As for Emmanuelle, this episode shook her greatly on a professional and personal level: the loss of Alix Forgues, given the special bond which united Emmanuelle, even distant, to this young woman in distress, and the unusual investment of the doctor towards her patient, will undoubtedly weigh heavily on her shoulders and will probably have an impact in both spheres of her life; the fact that investigator Alexis Fortin knows what happened between Pascal, their father and her is also destabilizing; the impromptu return of her friend Isabelle, which manifests itself as Emmanuelle boards a plane towards Trenton in order to try everything for the benefit of her friend Éric, adds a layer to everything that goes beyond the ‘heroin. She’s certainly on a tightrope for the first few episodes in January.
Despite the challenges ahead, one thing is certain: Emmanuelle cannot lose a second patient she cares regarding in a single day. We know one thing regarding her: she is a strong woman who will bounce back to continue to offer the best of herself.
These elements set the stage for a second part of the season highly anticipated by the public, with many intrigues and unresolved questions. We salute the ENTIRE Stat team for managing to captivate us every evening with the stories of Saint-Vincent Hospital. All that would be missing is for the thirty-minute daily to last sixty minutes…
We wish them lots of rest during the holiday season, it is well deserved!
