Starting this Tuesday, July 2, Venezuelan citizens will have to present a visa and passport to enter Peru.
According to Resolution 000121-2024-Migraciones, published in the official newspaper El Peruano, this measure aims to strengthen immigration control and regulate the entry of Venezuelan citizens into the country. With this resolution, Resolution 000177-2019-Migraciones, issued on June 12, 2019, is annulled.
Venezuelans will require a visa and passport to enter Peru
To obtain temporary immigration status or residency in Peru, a visa issued by a Peruvian consulate and a valid ordinary Venezuelan passport with at least six months of validity will be required.
Applications for a change of immigration status will be accepted only once for those persons whose passports have expired, provided that their last entry into the country was before this resolution came into effect and they remain in the national territory.
The document also states that Venezuelan citizens cannot travel through the territories of the Andean Community of Nations (CAN) and the Southern Common Market (Mercosur) without the required documents, since Venezuela has withdrawn from the CAN and is suspended from Mercosur.
