100% Green Energy for the Hohe Tauern & 300 new e-charging points around the Großglockner by 2030

Salzburg (OTS)

Best e-mobility infrastructure in the Hohe Tauern

The Holiday Region National Park Hohe Tauern GmbH will increasingly focus on sustainable mobility concepts in the future. The region is currently one of the most valuable tourist destinations in Austria. The Hohe Tauern National Park, as the largest natural reserve in the country, is the basis for responsible further development in tourism. On the one hand, it is important to preserve unique natural areas and, on the other hand, to make these natural treasures tangible and accessible to as many people as possible.

100% safety for e-mobility users around the Glockner

The region is also a pioneer in the expansion of e-mobility and offers its guests one of the best infrastructures with currently around 2,000 e-charging points in the Hohe Tauern National Park region around the Großglockner in Salzburg, Carinthia and East Tyrol. Through cooperation with partners and neighboring communities, GROHAG will be able to offer a total of 300 e-charging points under the “Glockner-E-Power” brand by 2030. This ensures consistent e-mobility safety and sufficient charging convenience for guests from home and abroad who arrive with their e-vehicle and want to experience the most beautiful panoramic roads in Austria (of the GROHAG Group) in a sustainable manner.

Now even more SuperCharger and accelerated charging

GROHAG is a leader in expanding the e-charging infrastructure in the area around Austria’s most beautiful panoramic roads. GROHAG has been promoting e-mobility as a pioneering and sustainable way of getting around on its alpine excursion roads in protected areas for ten years now. Under the new brand Glockner-E-Power, another six e-charging points for guests and users of e-vehicles were opened today at the parking lot of the National Park Center in Mittersill, the “National Park Capital”. Two SuperChargers (up to a maximum of 150 kW) and four stations for accelerated charging are now available.

100% green energy at top tariffs, open to EC/credit cards plus 250 partner cards

Glockner-E-Power can be charged quickly and cost-effectively with regional electricity from renewable energy sources and without membership. Payment can be made easily, without membership, without a basic fee and contactless with debit and credit cards. In addition, 250 partner cards from the regions of our guests’ countries of origin are now also accepted and they can alternatively use the respective cost advantages individually.

Comments on the project:

Johannes HÖRL, CEO of Großglockner Hochalpenstraßen AG (GROHAG Group): “With the expansion of the e-charging network, the construction of 300 new e-charging points ‘around the Großglockner’ and additional fast-charging options at affordable rates, we can offer alternative drive technologies and hundreds of thousands of guests, who travel electrically, provide concrete support. Our vision and hope is that in just a few years the majority of our guests will be able to travel on our roads in protected areas largely emission-free and noise-free. All of our measures contribute to further improving the ecological footprint on all of our panoramic roads and especially on the Großglockner, in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park, the largest protected area in the Alps.”

Roland RAUCH, Managing Director of the Holiday Region National Park Hohe Tauern GmbH and the National Park Center Hohe Tauern GmbH emphasizes: “Cooperation in tourism is an important driver for the implementation of project ideas. The Glockner-E-Power project is a great example of how cooperation can be implemented profitably. We are very proud to be an active partner with the National Park Center Hohe Tauern GmbH in the expansion of electromobility and to be able to offer our guests in the region and at the location a modern infrastructure for this important form of drive.”
