Chungcheongbuk-do announced on the 17th that it had held a groundbreaking ceremony for the ‘Hydrogen Commercial Vehicle Parts Test and Evaluation Center’ in the G10 area of the Seongbon General Industrial Complex in Eumseong.
The parts test and evaluation center will be built with a total floor area of 2271㎡ by investing KRW 26 billion. The ultra-high pressure container parts test building, the combustible gas container test building, and the combustible gas parts test building will be built. It is targeted for operation in January 2024.
The center will test and evaluate the durability and reliability of commercial vehicles such as hydrogen buses and trucks and hydrogen fuel cell products. The provincial government plans to create a national hydrogen safety industry cluster in the vicinity of the Chungbuk Innovation City.
In Chungbuk Innovation City, the Korea Gas Safety Corporation, a national hydrogen safety agency, the National Institute of Technology and Standards, the Korea Construction Living Environment Testing Institute, and the Korea Institute of Machinery, Electrical and Electronic Equipment are gathered.
The provincial strategy is to develop into a center for hydrogen safety, standardization, and education in connection with the liquid hydrogen testing center, hydrogen gas safety experience training center, hydrogen charging station parts test center, energy industry-university convergence district, and energy industry convergence complex.
