Work to install the sub-river fiber optic network between Congo and the Central African Republic (CAR) was launched on 14 January in Brazzaville. The Republic of Congo and the Central African Republic will be joined by the sub-river fiber optic network. The work launch ceremony took place on January 14, 2022, in the presence of the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, Léon Juste Ibombo. Covering an area of 576 m2, the power barge is made up of four autonomous motor-propellers with a capacity of 150 KVA each; two motor pumps with a capacity of 7000 liters per minute; a jetting and a plow to carry out the excavations; two diesel tanks with a capacity of 7500 liters each; two 65 KVA generators; two eleven-ton winches; three containers containing thirty-two beds, a kitchen container and a toilet container According to the coordinator of the Central African Backbone (CAB) project, Michel Ngakala, the works of lot 2, Congo-RCA, consist of the laying of 285 km of optical fiber sub-river, reinforced with steel, not only to increase its efficiency but also to allow it to land on the river bed. Indeed, the installation of this sub-river optical fiber will be provided by the Chinese companies Huawei and China Communications Services International (CCSI).
