ALGIERS – The work of the Algerian-Ugandan Trade and Investment Forum began Saturday in Kampala (Uganda), with the participation of 51 Algerian companies and businessmen from the two countries, we learned from the ministry.

Participants in this meeting, which is being held under the theme “The opportunities of the African Continental Free Trade Area (ZLECAF) for the strengthening of bilateral trade relations”, will discuss the promotion of economic and commercial relations between economic and commercial enterprises. of the two countries.

The Forum will also see the installation of a Council of Algerian-Ugandan businessmen and the holding of its first session, in addition to the holding of several meetings between Algerian economic operators and their Ugandan counterparts.

The Minister of Trade and Export Promotion, Tayeb Zitouni, chaired, on Friday, along with the Ugandan Minister of Trade, Industry and Cooperation Francis Mwebesa, the signing ceremony of a partnership agreement and cooperation between the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CACI), and its Ugandan counterpart, for the creation of an Algerian-Ugandan Business Council.

The signing of this agreement took place on the sidelines of the inauguration of the Algerian products fair in Kampala by Mr. Houcine Zaoui in charge of the management of the Algerian Chamber and the president of the Ugandan Chamber of Commerce and Industry , Mrs. Olive Kigongo.

Mr. Zitouni and his Ugandan counterpart chaired yesterday the opening of the first fair of Algerian products in Uganda, which brings together 51 public and private Algerian companies operating in different fields.

On this occasion, Mr. Zitouni underlined “the importance of access for Algerian products to African markets and investment at the continental level, in accordance with the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune”, recalling “the priority” granted by the President of the Republic to access of national products to foreign markets, particularly the African market.

For his part, Mr. Mwebesa affirmed that the fair “will enable the establishment of a partnership between Ugandan companies and their Algerian counterparts which present quality products conforming to international standards, and to benefit from the experience of Algerian producers.”

During his visit to Uganda, Mr. Zitouni, who met with Mr. Mwebesa, reaffirmed Algeria’s commitment to strengthening the economic partnership between the two countries and encouraging trade and joint investments in various sectors. , in accordance with the directions of the President of the Republic.

Mr. Zitouni began on Friday, on the instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, a working visit to Uganda, in the company of a delegation of businessmen, with the aim of strengthening economic relations between the two countries and access for Algerian products to African markets.
