Congo-Brazzaville, at least 250 delegates from various political sides are taking part from Thursday to Sunday, in Owando more than 500 kilometers from the capital, in a consultation initiated with a view to preparing peaceful local and legislative elections next July. The meeting is boycotted by an opposition coalition which denounces a diversion.

Three days of discussion to agree on the electoral file
Former rebel leader Frédéric Bintsamou, alias Pasteur Ntumi, still holed up in his stronghold of Pool in the south of the country, delegated Philippe Ané Bibi, secretary in charge of the organization of his party, the National Council of Republicans. The former leader of the Federation of the Congolese opposition, Claudine Munari, has also appointed a representative. Finally, Anguios Nganguia Engambé, unsuccessful candidate in the last three presidential elections, also made the trip to Owando.
All this political gratin will discuss for three days in order to agree on the update of the electoral register and especially to agree on the holding of the next elections throughout the country, in particular in the province of Pool, where certain constituencies did not vote in 2017 because of a socio-political crisis.
