Act 10 of the Maracana Africa Cup of Nations took off this Tuesday, September 26 on the synthetic pitch of the Grand-Popo municipal stadium. Benin, like the other countries, started the continental tournament in both categories (senior and super senior). But the two selections perform differently following two days of competition.
Under the gaze of luminaries from the Fédération Internationale de Maracana Association (FIMAA) and national and municipal sports authorities, the 10th edition of the African Maracana Cup of Nations was officially launched.
Benin, which hosts the African tournament in both categories (senior and super senior), made its debut. First, the super seniors dominated Canada, the guest (1-0) in the opening. At the senior level, Cameroon dominated Benin (2-1). This all happened on the first day. This Wednesday was the 2nd day. Benin won once morest the Eagles of Mali. It had to be done to get back on track. Marc Chabi twice and Moumouni Salifou did the job well. The super seniors who were making their second entry into the competition were playing Burkina Faso. The two selections might not decide between themselves (1-1). Philippe Tèko, the former Beninese international opened the scoring, but the Burkinabé equalized through Issoufou Sanou.
On penalties, Men of integrity show themselves to be more skillful. They won with great difficulty (4-tab to 3). The competition continues this Thursday. Things will clearly take shape in the pools.
This will allow us to have an idea of the teams which will continue the African tournament.
