The Ministry of Development of Energy and Hydraulic Resources kicked off work to extend the HTA and LV distribution network in the city of Bangui.

This project is part of the Emergency and Access to Electricity Project (PURACEL). The ministry’s cabinet director, Alain Fidele Kolongato – Gbadou, presided over the launch ceremony. The project aims to extend the medium voltage (MV) and low voltage (LV) distribution network in the city of Bangui and its surroundings. The works are financed by the World Bank.

The financial institution is committed to injecting resources for the construction of 400 km of electricity distribution lines and 42 transformer stations. This achievement comes in addition to similar work already undertaken by the African Development Bank (AfDB).

Three Land Cruiser brand vehicles and seven Cross motorcycles were handed over on the sidelines of the launch ceremony.

Alain Fidele Kolongato-Gbadou confessed that: “the energy situation of the Central African Republic has been almost stationary since the 90s and characterized by a low production capacity in the face of demand, which is around 3% on the scale national. »
