While waiting for Nanni Moretti, the Italian director who is returning to the Festival for the ninth time in competition, the Cannes marches have welcomed two French filmmakers. Valérie Donzelli presented “Love and Forests” in the Cannes Première section, while Tran Anh Hung screened “La passion de Dodin Bouffant”, in the running for the Palme d’Or.
It was the affluence of the great evenings for the eighth day of competition at the Cannes Film Festival. As always, a rain of stars descended on the Croisette, to the sound of heels and moccasins on the steps. Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel got the ball rolling. The two French actors are on the bill of The passion of Dodin Bouffantfeature film by Franco-Vietnamese director Tran Anh Hung, in the running for the Palme d’Or.
Alongside them, Virginie Efira and Melvil Poupaud climbed the 24 steps of the Palais des Festivals to Love and forests, accompanied by Valérie Donzelli, the director. This feature film, which depicts a woman gradually falling under the influence of a man, is presented out of competition in the Cannes Première parallel section.
Later in the evening, director Nanni Moretti walked the red carpet for the ninth time in selection. The Italian presents his latest film, Towards a bright future (The sun of the future), for which he swapped his Vespa for a scooter, in competition for the Palme d’Or. He was accompanied by the cast of the feature film, among which we find Matthieu Amalric or even Margherita Buy, his favorite actress.
