Starokostiantyniv was the main target of the attack

On the evening of July 11 and at night on July 12, Russian forces attacked Ukraine with cruise missiles and attack drones, the main direction of the attack was Starokostyantiniv, the commander of the Air Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Mykola Oleschuk, said.

According to his data, on the evening of July 11, the enemy attacked with 5 Kh-101 air-based cruise missiles (launched from the Saratov region of the Russian Federation), and during the night – 19 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs and unmanned aerial vehicles of an unknown type from the Primorsko regions -Akhtarsk, Kursk region of the Russian Federation

The Air Force of the Ukrainian Armed Forces reported that the missiles were shot down in the Khmelnytskyi, Sumy and Cherkasy regions. Air defense forces also shot down 11 Shaheds and unmanned aerial vehicles of an unknown type in the Mykolaiv, Kyiv, Vinnytsia, Khmelnytskyi, Kherson and Sumy regions.

“The remaining eight drones have been lost in location. Presumably, in order to overload air defense, the enemy uses simulators of attack UAVs. Information regarding the victims and destruction was not received,” he wrote in a telegram.

This is not the first time Russian troops have directed their missiles and attack drones at Starokostyantynov, Khmelnytskyi regionwhere a military airfield is located near the city.

The Air Force previously stated that “Starokostiantyniv is always under the watchful eye of the enemy, many UAVs fly in this direction.”

The latest Russian attack comes amid reports that the Netherlands and Denmark are “in the process of transferring” US F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. It was reported that the Ukrainian military will begin flying the F-16 this summer, but additional details were not provided due to operational security considerations.
