Starfield having been available to everyone for a few days, many players have deplored the lack of vehicles for terrestrial exploration. If Todd Howard says that the jet pack is enough, it is clear that it can take a long time to get from one point to another. A player has found a very simple solution to advance much more quickly with the jet-pack, but also dash!
How to go much faster and dash with the jet-pack
Unfortunately, the technique can only be performed on PC since it involves assigning a second key to the “Jump” action, something that is not possible to do with the controller.
How to configure a second key for jumping
Play with keyboard and mouse. Press “Esc”. Click on “Options”. Click “Shortcuts”. Scroll through the “Action” category until you reach “Jump.” Click the empty box to the right of the already assigned key, then assign the key you want. In our case, we assign the “ALT” key which can be found next to “Space”.
Now that you have a second button to jump, simply use this to fly horizontally and use the basic one to fly vertically. Also consider equipping a jump jet-pack or a basic jet-pack to benefit from several boosts and go faster. You can check this feature in your inventory.
This technique also allows you to dash to the sides or behind, greatly energizing fights.
Starfield Pro tip : There’s a VERY FAST horizontal boosting hidden mechanic
If you bind Jump to a second key and use that input, it enables your boost to skip horizontally as opposed to vertically, this is makes traversal much easier & faster, best used with a Skip jetpack ! pic.twitter.com/ODE4FwovHo
