Starfield: according to Bethesda, Intel cards are not powerful enough

Starfield creates a sensation wherever he goes and generates a lot of attention in the press. It’s a game that’s overall enjoyable despite its imperfections. One of its major weak points is the optimization for the visual quality that it offers. Performance is rather mediocre and the most powerful card available on the market, the NVIDIA RTX 4090, struggles to run the game at 4K 60 frames per second.

Intel graphics cards have a lot of trouble running Starfield, to the point that Bethesda does not offer support for the game

But on Intel’s side, apart from the fact that the Californian giant is releasing drivers to improve performance in the space RPG, according to Bethesda this is not enough. Indeed, according to the studio The Intel Arc A770 card does not meet the minimum requirements to run Starfield.

Indeed, Intel is having a serious problem in addition to all the problems its drivers are having for this game. The company is not in Bethesda’s sights simply because they believe that their hardware does not meet the minimum requirements for playing at their game, and therefore, support will be limited.

In a user’s statement to the developer’s customer service asking regarding issues he was having with his Intel graphics card and game, the response he received from Tanaka, his online advisor regarding the problem was this:

“Greetings from the Bethesda Customer Service team, Tanaka here!

I understand that Starfield crashes frequently. We are happy to discuss this with you. Thank you for contacting us regarding this. I see you have an Intel Arc A770 graphics card. This does not meet the minimum requirements of an AMD Radeon RX 5700 or an NVIDIA GeForce 1070.

Since you do not meet the minimum system requirements to run this game, the steps we can provide you to resolve these issues are limited, as some steps may damage your system. I understand that this might not be the solution you were hoping for, but we greatly appreciate your understanding on this matter. If you have any other questions, don’t hesitate to ask them.

We would be delighted to help you ! We thank you for your continued interest and support!

Sincerely, Tanaka Bethesda Customer Support »

Does a Intel Arc A770 can rotate Starfield in terms of minimum requirements for AMD and NVIDIA in terms of GPUs? Actually, no. It’s hard to find a comparison chart that includes an RX 5700 and a GTX 1070 to compare performance with an Arc 770, but in any case, Intel’s option is generally faster.

Concretely, the Intel graphics card should still offer better performance and be above Bethesda’s minimum requirements. But in fact with high settings and in 1080p definition, it is quite slow as we can see above.

Therefore, Intel has a major problem with the performance of its graphics cards in Starfield to the point where Bethesda offers no support because its drivers seem to disrupt the game more than fix the issues. This is no surprise, the company has already stated that it has serious problems and is working to resolve them.
