Stardew Valley update 1.6 is almost ready, as all content has been developed and added to the update, leading the developer into the bug fixing and polishing phase.

ConcernedApe, also known as the Creator of Stardew ValleyEric Barone stated:

Version 1.6 ended up being a bit broader in scope than originally planned. I have now stopped adding major new content and it is in a bug fixing and polishing phase until it is ready for release. Thanks for your patience – it’ll be fun to watch everyone play it!

Considering the major 1.5 update released for PC in late 2020, it will be intriguing to see the final magnitude of the 1.6 update. This is especially relevant given that in 2022 it had been ensured that the update would not be extensive, focusing mainly on improving support for mods. It seems that Barone’s creative vision had different intentions.

However, Barone has already turned his attention to his next game, Haunted Cocolatier. This raises questions about whether the 1.6 update will be as extensive as 1.5. However, the community has been eagerly awaiting this update for quite some time.

In the comments section of his tweet, Barone assured that Stardew Valley update 1.6 will “absolutely” be released in 2024. Additionally, he emphasized that the release on PC, console, and mobile devices will not experience the significant delays seen in the past, as who described those delays as a “nightmare.”
