StarDance 2024: Couples Shine in Musical-Themed Dance Show

Couples danced cha-chu, rumba and quikstep to tunes from famous musicals. But the first performance belonged to the singer Kateřina Maria Fialová and her colleague Christian Pekar, who performed a piece from the musical The Greatest Showman with the dancers. The dancers then also accompanied the competing couples.

The first competition number was the cha-cha of the actress and singer Lucie Vondráčková and Lukáš Bartuňek to the song from the musical Moulin Rouge Lady Marmalade. Marek Eben recalled that Vondráčková hosted the program Marmeláda as a child. The jury praised the dance. “Lucie you just keep getting better and better,” said Richard Genzer. He gave the couple together with Tatiana Drexler an eight, Jan Tománek a seven.

Actress Jana Paulová and Robin Ondráček danced the quikstep to the tune from the musical Chicago. “You look posh, you look charming, you can play it so you almost don’t see you tripping over Robin’s feet,” laughed Drexler. “It was a bit nervous today,” added Tománek. According to Genzer, Jana’s legs got sclerosis, but from the waist up Jana was happy. “I screwed up a bit today, but you can handle it,” Paul laughed. Jen Drexler awarded the dance a seven, Genzer and Tománek six.

Martina Ptáčková and Dominik Vodička

Martina Ptáčková and Dominik Vodička danced the rumba to a song from the musical Jesus Christ Superstar. According to Martina, dancing is much more complicated than wrestling. “With him, I know I have to beat my opponent, here I don’t know anything,” she laughed. “I’m satisfied, I feel with Martina that every round is more relaxed,” praised his dancer Dominik Vodička.

“You don’t give up, you can see that you are a fighter and that’s good. Keep fighting,” Tománek said. “You keep getting better and Dominik does great choreography that he can cover well,” added Drexler. The jury agreed and raised a six three times.

The second cha-cha to the song from Muzikál ze změna belonged to the actress Marta Dancingerová and Martin Prágro. Marek Eben was afraid that the inscription on Marty’s jersey, which bore the letters EHS, meant that Eben had gone terribly wrong. However, the actress did not confirm this to him, because she herself did not know what the sign meant. The jury was enthusiastic about the dance. “Classroom teacher Tatiana is absolutely delighted, it was great,” said Drexler. And for the first time, she drew nines three times.

Patrik Hartl and Tereza Prucková

To the song from the musical Hello, Dolly! writer Patrik Hartl and Tereza Prucková danced quikstep. “You never lose your mind, do you?” Eben asked Hartl after the dance. “Not here, he answered,” answered Hartl. And when asked what song he would choose if he ran for president, he answered that it probably doesn’t need to be too cheerful. In the haze of his election to the Castle, the whole conversation revolved around dancing. “I think you have a good chance of going far in this competition because the people love you,” predicted Tatiana Drexler of his prospects in the competition. The jury agreed and gave three sevens.

Filip Blažek and Adriana Mašková

Actor Filip Blažek and Adriana Mašková danced a rumba to a song from the musical Rent. “There are dances that are perfect and you don’t enjoy them, and then there are dances that aren’t perfect, but you enjoy them a lot. And I enjoyed your dance, even though there wasn’t much rumba,” said Tománek. Genzer also agreed with this. “You look very natural in everything you perform. I think there was enough rumba, but sometimes you looked for yourself in music,” said Drexler, on the other hand. And again they voted unanimously when they raised the seven three times.

The finale of the evening was provided by actor Oskar Hes and Kateřina Bartuněk Hrstková, who danced quikstep to a song from the musical Varieté. “You’d be destined for a musical,” marveled Eben. “Well, besides, I miss singing,” Hes argued.

“I’m glad you’re a good actor, a good dancer, if you were a good singer, I’d be mad,” Genzer said. “Your show is flawless, it’s fifteen points, but there were minor mistakes in the quickstep,” said Tománek. “We have high standards for you,” Drexler explained. Nevertheless, their dance received the highest rating and the only two tens of the fifth night. And that from Genzer and Drexler. Tomanek gave an eight.

StarDance Highlights: A Night of Glamour, Gaffes, and Giddy Dancing

Welcome to another whirlwind episode of StarDance, where glitz meets grace, and a grabbed toe or two is just part of the fun! Last night’s performances were filled with cha-chas, rumbas, quiksteps, and, of course, a hefty helping of musical magic. Let’s dive into the twirling spectacle, shall we?

The Night’s Opening Act

Kateřina Maria Fialová and her partner Christian Pekar kick-started the evening with a number from The Greatest Showman. A roaring success, if you will. Can you imagine being so talented that you wake up every day and say, “Yes, I’ll just sing a little and dance a lot”? If only my local karaoke bar had that kind of dynamism!

Star Performers of the Evening

Lucie Vondráčková and Lukáš Bartuněk

First up in the hot seat was actress and singer Lucie Vondráčková with her cha-cha to “Lady Marmalade” from Moulin Rouge. Marek Eben couldn’t resist rehashing Lucie’s childhood hosting gig on Marmeláda. Imagine watching your life flash before your eyes as you cha-cha away; we’d rate that a solid “you can do it!” So far, so good, as the jury threw around an eight from Genzer and a seven from Tománek, a real treat for anyone’s evening!

Jana Paulová and Robin Ondráček

Then we had Jana Paulová and Robin Ondráček’s quikstep to a number from Chicago. “You look posh,” remarked Drexler, before delivering the killer line about tripping over feet. Think of it as a dance-to-stand-up comedy crossover! The couple received a solid score, though Tománek could only muster a ‘cripple’ six. Say it ain’t so!

Martina Ptáčková and Dominik Vodička

And who could forget the rumba by Martina Ptáčková and Dominik Vodička to a number from Jesus Christ Superstar? Martina declared dancing tougher than wrestling—well, she didn’t have to pin anyone to the floor this time! That’s progress, right? The judges dished out three sixes, but it turns out I had more fun watching that than they had dancing it!

Marta Dancingerová and Martin Prágr

Marta continued with another cha-cha dancing to “Muzikál ze změna”. Poor Marek worried about a jersey inscription that left everyone guessing. Yet, no worries there; the jury tossed out nines like they were candy at a parade! The start of a dance revolution, folks, and we’re here for it!

Patrik Hartl and Tereza Prucková

Our very own writer, Patrik Hartl, wowed audiences with a quikstep to “Hello, Dolly!”. When asked about his sanity in this competition, he replied, “Not here,” and let’s face it; we’ve all said that at some point, haven’t we? The judges recognized his potential for more than just writing and rewarded him with three sevens. Who’s ready for his political dance tour?

Filip Blažek and Adriana Mašková

Filip and Adriana, dancing the rumba to a song from Rent, gave us another round of “Oh, wow! Dance isn’t about perfection, but enjoyment!” But hold your horses; it better have enough rumba! The judges gave them unanimously sevens. Honestly, what is with all the agreement? Where are the feuds?

Oskar Hes and Kateřina Bartuněk Hrstková

The grand finale featured Oskar Hes and Kateřina, who leaped into the quikstep finale like pros! “You’re destined for a musical,” said Eben. If they were singing, we’d have a standing ovation every night, let me tell you! Topping it off, their dance received a standing applause, rated tens by two of the judges—a unicorn of dance ratings!
