Star Wars announces three new films and will have Rey return in one of the long

After canceling eight films in development over the past few years, the Star Wars franchise is finally returning to theaters. Three new feature films were announced this Friday (7), with emphasis on the return of the character Rey – played by actress Daisy Ridley – in one of them.

The news was announced during the Star Wars Celebration Europe, in progress in the city of London until Monday (10). At the time, the president of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, confirmed that the direction of the titles will be in charge of James Mangold (Logan), Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian) and Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Ms. Marvel).

Including, Sharmeen will be the first woman to hold the position in a Star Wars feature. And it will be in him that Rey will return. The character will be responsible for setting up a new jedi order in the future, in a plot that takes place years following the events of The Rise of Skywalkerthe last film released in the franchise, in 2019.

Meanwhile, Mangold’s title will focus on the past, with a plot that will tell the origin of the jedi. In turn, Filloni will have a story designed in the “present”, thought of the New Republic, to close the stories of the series The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett e Ahsoka.

So far, Lucasfilm has not released the release date for these three new films in the saga. However, it is certain that Star Wars fans will not be left without news for years to come.
