O Star+ will come to an end next year no Brazil. The news was announced this week, but this does not mean that the content will be removed completely. In fact, the entire platform catalog will be migrated to the Disney+being a movement that represents a new strategy adopted by the company.
In this case, the idea is that all content is centralized and can be accessed by a single brand. To give you an idea, something similar also happened with HBO Max, which will change its name to just “Max” in Latin America next year and will have content from platforms like Discovery+ available in a unified way.
With this change, subscribers to the streaming service will be able to watch films and series with FX, Marvel, Pixar, National Geographic, 20th Century Studios and Star Wars labels. Likewise, the broadcast of ESPN sports programs and events will also be available on the platform. Therefore, tournaments such as the Europa League and Libertadores will be seen on the platform.
Recently, Disney acquired Hulu and its content streaming application is already showing films and series from the platform. The statement issued mentions that the change will be applied from the second quarter of 2024. A possible adjustment in the amount charged for the service has not currently been mentioned and remains a mystery.
However, the company committed to announcing this and other details later. Diego Lernerm, president of The Walt Disney Company in Latin America, stated that the measure should make access simpler for subscribers, in addition to delivering a “improved and superior experience”.
