From 1991, the Nights of the Stars light up the sky and leave beautiful memories in people’s minds. This year, they will take place on August 11, 12 and 13, nights when the Perseids will be particularly observable. To make the most of this show, more than 500 events will take place in the four corners of France.
Organized by theFrench Association of Astronomy (AFA), this 2023 edition on the theme of celestial dust will come to life alongside astronomy clubs, planetariums, associations, tourist offices, town halls and will be run by hundreds of volunteers.
The opportunity to take advantage of this annual phenomenon with family or friendswhile learning things.
Many cities to mobilize
And large number of cities are already on the bridge. In Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), conferences and observations of the stars through the telescope are on the program. To best contemplate this starry sky, the lighting in the district where the events take place will even be turned off on Friday August 11, 2023.
If in Vernon (Eure) and Villeneuve d’Ascq (North), the workshops should delight the whole family, some will take the height.
On the hill of Pech Piquet (Lot), “there will be telescopes, sky chartstools to explain and show, and above all a remarkable point of view well chosen for the occasion”, promises Bernard Deleris, secretary of the association and long-time enthusiast of astronomy.
For its part, Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin) sees things big with and escape game aboard a reconstructed space shuttle leaving for Mars, a virtual reality session to put yourself in the shoes of an astronaut, a workshop to discover the constellations and an augmented reality session to discover the planets of the Solar System.
