Targeting Increased Coverage
In the fiscal year 2024 (FY24), Star Health & Allied Insurance collected ₹1,406 crore in premiums from customers in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. This figure is projected to rise to ₹1,655 crore in FY25. Recognizing the low penetration of health insurance across India, Star Health & Allied Insurance is actively working to raise awareness and encourage greater adoption, especially in Andhra Pradesh, under the guidance of the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).
Meeting Growing Demand
“There is huge room for more health insurers as the penetration [level of health covers in India] is low. Health insurance has already emerged as the largest component of general insurance,” said Kumar, highlighting the significant untapped potential in the Indian health insurance market.
