A participant of “Star Académie” has been declared positive for COVID-19 in the last few days. Eloi Cummings, who is in danger in view of Variety on Sunday, was immediately placed in solitary confinement in a room at the Waterloo mansion.
Producer Jean-Philippe Dion provided an update on the situation with the QMI Agency on Saturday.
Towards the end of the week, Eloi Cummings warned the production that he appeared to have symptoms of COVID-19. In this case, the production protocol is clear, it was tested on the spot and the result was positive.
“He was immediately placed in isolation in a room, said Jean-Philippe Dion on the phone. We are lucky to have many rooms at the Academy, which also have their own bathroom. Since then he has been isolated in this room where he also takes his meals. There is nothing alarming, it is not worrying. He just has a bad cold.”
The case of the young Madelinot is similar to what is currently happening in the Quebec population, which is facing an upsurge in cases of COVID-19, due in particular to the proliferation of the BA.2 variant.
Eloi will obviously not be able to participate in Variety this Sunday, but as he is one of the three Academicians in danger, an alternative has been found.
“As his health allows him, he will sing live from the Academy on Sunday evening, detailed the producer. We are setting up a small studio in the classroom. He will have on one side a stage on which he will interpret his song, and on the other side, a space where he will be able to attend Variété. He will be able to exchange with the set live to give his news. It does not change the process of elimination of the week.
The other six Academicians have been tested daily, and everyone is negative. The teachers are also in great shape and have no symptoms.
“Eloi has never had COVID before, unlike others. They are all adequately vaccinated anyway,” insisted the producer, adding that since the start of the season the health protocol required by the Commission for Standards, Equity, Health and Safety at Work (CNESST) has always been strictly respected, whether at the Academy or at MELS studios.
In the event that Eloi should leave “Star Académie” at the end of Sunday evening, a plan is also planned. He will then do his day of interviews by zoom or by telephone, Monday, from his room at the Academy. He will then leave the manor of Waterloo, once his period of isolation has been completed, according to the standards of Public Health.
