Standard: Stipe Perica travels to Belgium without the approval of his club!

As the summer transfer window enters its home stretch, the Liège sports management has made the acquisition of a striker a priority. Several files are under study, including that of Croatian Stipe Perica (27), active in Mouscron during the 2019-2020 season (eight goals in 16 games). Two years ago, the grant scorer (1m92) had already been offered to the former management rouche. Today, negotiations are well under way between Standard and Maccabi Tel-Aviv where Perica still has one year of contract.

On the side of the Israeli management, the value of the Croatian striker (20 goals in 50 games at Maccabi) is estimated at €2m, while Standard’s first offer was around €250,000. The Israeli club therefore refused this first Liège offensive.

But following learning of the interest of the main club, Perica expressed his intention to join Sclessin to such an extent that, as reported by our Israeli colleagues from One, the Croatian decided to… desert. Perica indeed took the plane this followingnoon for Belgium where he is expected at the beginning of the evening. Seen at the airport, Perica turned off his phone and refused to answer calls from his club, which did not give him his approval to travel to Belgium.

This tour de force is clearly aimed at forcing Maccabi Tel Aviv to accept a second Liège proposal which should take place soon. If the management of Liège increases its offer to reach one million euros, the transaction might be carried out. On the side of the player’s representatives, we are assured of doing everything possible to ensure that the file is successful. Finally, it should be noted that at present, Standard has not been made aware of the player’s approach.
