To the SN article from September 29th “Why cataracts have lost their terror”. A nice success, unfortunately nothing happens to the “bad brother” (glaucoma). Glaucoma is practically incurable, but it can almost always be prevented through preventative measures. Prevention would be easy. From the age of 40, eye pressure should be checked every two to five years. Too high eye pressure slowly leads to glaucoma. With appropriate eye drops, eye pressure can easily be kept within limits. The only thing missing is the clarification! Health policy and the media have “shone” on this front for decades through inactivity. Why should I, as a layperson with excellent vision, consult an ophthalmologist?
