Luka Elsner had decided to start Carcela and Van Damme this weekend. On the Unionist side, Felice Mazzù lined up his typical team. Standard was keen to win in order to take revenge following the beating of the first leg, but also to win this last meeting at home in front of their twelfth man.

No observation round during this part since the Union will quickly open the scoring via a very nice volley signed Teuma (9th), 0-1.

Standard will react a few minutes later with a shot from Cafaro which will push Moris to push the ball away for a corner (12th) and a deflection from Emond which hits the crossbar (16th). Shortly before the half hour mark, Standard equalized. Forgotten in the opposing area, Sissako will send the leather into the back of the net (24th), 1-1. Subsequently, Carcela will try his luck, but his shot will go into the side net (36th). The score will not move at halftime.

The start of the second period will be very poor in opportunities and in spectacle. After the hour of play, the Union will try to offer more content in order to snatch victory and maintain its gap with Club Brugge. Nieuwkoop will appear in front of Henkinet but will send the ball well above (66th). The unionist defender will allow his people to take control of the game thanks to a resumption of the head (70th), 1-2. Undav will have the break ball but Henkinet will make a nice save on his line (75th). It is Nielsen, well served by Mitoma, who will take care of it by shooting Henkinet (83rd), 1-3.

Another defeat at Sclessin for Standard de Liège despite a twelfth strongman present (attendance 21,367). The Union is sure to finish in first place in the standings at the end of the classic phase and therefore to be European next season. The current leader is five points ahead of Club Brugge.
