Standard probably can’t afford another season like this. The supporters have been very patient, but according to Marc Wilmots, it may not last much longer.

“They already have to concentrate on next season. The supporters have been very calm for a few years, but there is a sense of boredom that is setting in,” warns the former Rouche (163 games, 80 goals).
The same observation for Philippe Albert, who hopes that Standard will come out of the rut. “The future is far from rosy. The economic situation is very difficult,” he worries. “We need this club. The solutions can only be financial, and the money is not there.”
