The Stand Up Coalition, bringing together several associations fighting once morest the far right, organized a rally on Sunday followingnoon on Place Poelaert in Brussels presented as “a festive act of solidarity and resistance once morest intolerance and hatred. ”.

The action was specially set up at the same time as the meeting of the Vlaams Belang, the far-right Flemish party, which was held on the Place de l’Albertine, a few hundred meters away. The demonstration passed off peacefully. Participants unfurled “fascists not welcome” and “stop racism, sexism, LGBTQI + phobia” banners. Others waved flags, including the logo of the New Anti-Capitalist Party (NPA), to a techno sound.

The police were on site to supervise the demonstration, with several combis parked on avenue Louise and rue aux Laines.
