Eliminated at the stage of the round of 16 in singles, Stan Wawrinka and Dominic Stricker will have enough to make up for at the Swiss Open in Gstaad. The Swiss duo qualified for the doubles final.
The two Swiss defeated the Czech pair Jebavy/Souza 6-3 7-6 (8/6) in the semi-finals. They will face either the Demoliner/Middelkoop duo or the Olivetti/Vega Hernandez pair in the final. Stricker has already experienced the joys of a doubles final in Gstaad. It was during the 2021 edition and he had won the title with Marc-Andrea Hüsler.
We have to go back a little further for Wawrinka who has not played in a doubles final since Chennai in 2013 with Benoît Paire. He then gleaned his second title following Olympic gold in 2008 alongside Roger Federer. It will also be his third doubles final in the Bernese Oberland following 2004 with Marc Rosset and 2008 with Stéphane Bohli.
