Stamkos bids farewell to Lightning fans

Spending 16 years with the Tampa Bay Lightning left a lasting mark on forward Steven Stamkos, a team he will never forget, especially in a lengthy letter released Monday Special thanks to the team’s fans.

“How might we say hello to a place like this one last time? A city that welcomed me when I was 18, with the only National League team I’ve ever known and a fan base that has become a family? Honestly, I really don’t know,” he said.

«[…] It would be quite unreal if I wasn’t part of the Bolt team this autumn. However, in recent weeks, I’ve come to realize how lucky I am to have been an employee for 16 years. So I just wanted to share some memories and say thank you to everyone who was a part of this adventure.

“It was fun to look back on the summer following that, getting drafted. I didn’t know anything regarding Tampa. I knew it was hot and there were some stars who had won trophies a few years before.
