164 cases of dengue were reported from April 18 to May 1 in Reunion. The epidemic figures remain stable. The South has more than half of the cases and fewer patients go to the emergency room.
For several weeks now, the dengue fever figures have not progressed excessively, the ARS even speaks of a plateau.
The number of patients has increased very little over the past two weeks,
164 cases reported from April 18 to May 1 (compared to 123 the previous period).
If one compare the number of cases identified in the first months of the year, it is very less than that’s why I wrote to you from last year(1,153 cases to date compared to 12,200 cases in 2021 at the same period).
The emergencies hospital also record less traffic in their services.
With more than half of the cases (60%), the south of the island remains the area most affected by dengue fever, followed by the western region which includes a quart contamination.
Over the period concerned, dengue fever cases were located in 19 municipalities:
- Sud (60,4% of cases): Saint-Pierre, Saint-Joseph, Petite-Île, Le Tampon, Saint-Louis, Etang-Salé, Les Avirons, Saint-Philippe
- West (24.4% of cases): Saint-Paul, Saint-Leu, La Possession, The Port
- Nord (8.5% of cases) : Saint-Denis, Sainte-Marie, Sainte-Suzanne,
- East (6,7% of cases) : Saint-Benoît, Saint-André, Sainte-Rose, Bras Panon
Clusters of cases have in the same time been identified in the following quarters :
- Saint-Joseph : Guava
- Small island : The Chemin Neuf, Manapany les Bas, La Ravine du Pont
- Saint Pierre : Montvert-les-Hauts
- Etang-Sale : The Maniron
Since last year, serotype 1 of the virus has been circulating on the island, recall the health authorities.
Fighting actions vector control continue on a daily basis on the island.
