St. Patrick’s Day Celebration in Igel: Kevin Dempsey, Paul Dangl, and Echo Trio Concert

2024-01-16 19:20:00

On Saturday, March 16th it’s that time once more: St. Patrick’s Day is really celebrated in the Igel.

WAIDHOFEN/THAYA. Included is none other than guitarist Kevin Dempsey from the United Kingdom, who plays in a duo with the Waidhofen-born and now internationally renowned fiddler Paul Dangl. Afterwards the Macalla Trio will provide a great, Irish atmosphere.

Kevin Dempsey & Paul Dangl

Kevin Dempsey can undoubtedly be described as one of the most versatile folk guitarists on the British Isles and in German-speaking countries there is no way around Paul Dangl’s Irish & Scottish Folk Fiddle. With the award-winning folk band “Black Market Tune”, Paul was also able to impress as a bandleader at numerous Australian festivals. Kevin became known in this country primarily through his collaboration with fiddler Dave Swarbrick and the band “Whippersnapper,” but also through numerous solo tours.

Precisely because both of their musical horizons extend far beyond folk music, their combined play of fiddle and guitar meshes so wonderfully with one another. The jigs and reels turn into skillfully performed improvisations. The fiddle is sometimes used as an accompanying instrument and the guitar as a solo instrument. Traditional and self-composed songs sung in two voices give this duo a special touch.

Occupation:
Kevin Dempsey – acoustic guitar & vocals

Echo Trio

The Macalla Trio consists of musicians who are at home on the traditional music stage. The trio has been one of the most renowned representatives of Irish folk music in Poland for many years. They have already been on stage together with Danar, Hear the Dance, Gwerenn, Duo Grygier/Biela, Macklamara and many others. In their interpretation of traditional Irish music, they also incorporate similar elements, such as Breton-Celtic elements, Polish and music from a fusion of Celtic music with flamenco and jazz.

But first and foremost, the love of Irish music is to showcase the beauty of Irish and Scottish ballads and the incredible energy of traditional songs. Holy St. Patrick we are ready!
