St. Mary’s High School Student Wins Bronze in National Karate Championship: Under Father’s Guidance

Daughter won bronze in karate under her father’s tutelage in Kavalangad. Angel Raja, a class 8 student of St. Mary’s High School, Pothanikkad, won the prize. Angel competed for Kerala in the National Shitoriu Karate Championship held at Mysore on 15th and won a medal in the individual Kumite event. With this, he qualified for the World Shitoriu Karate Championship to be held in Indonesia in September. In June 2020, Angel entered the High Range Book of World Records by doing 96 push-ups in one minute. Angel has been learning karate under the tutelage of his father, Raja Thomas, who has been a trainer for eight years. For further study, father and daughter are undergoing intensive training under Indian chief and coach Ranjit Jose to train Shimpookan. Karate third danaya Raja Pothanikkad is running Shimbukan karate school. Raja Thomas also conducts Panchakarma therapist, yoga training etc. Angel’s mother is Leena at home in Amikatkudi.
