Many projects will bring the tourist resort into shape in the coming months.

A planned hotel project was at the center of the citizens’ meeting at the beginning of June, and the LN reported in detail. But the municipality of St. Margarethen also has a number of other projects on the agenda. The bank office in town is to be closed in summer/early autumn. “The cash desk is disappearing. The foyer will be upgraded, however. Deposits and withdrawals should still be possible,” says Mayor Johann Lüftenegger (ÖVP). On June 29th at 7 p.m. the general meeting of the cooperative “Unser Kroma” will be held in the event hall. There are currently 246 members. “The business is generating good sales.”

A new fire alarm system was also put into operation in the kindergarten and elementary school area. The building land model “Magatsch II” was completed. “Currently, the demand is probably also due to the inflation restrained,” says the local manager.

The future projects include a photovoltaic system with 29 kWp at the building yard/club house. In addition, the building will be equipped with an emergency power supply with 10 kWh. The renovation of the Murbrücke in the district of Unterbayrdorf will begin in September. In addition, a one and a half meter wide pedestrian and cycling area will be created. Investment sum: Around 380,000 euros. Around 40 percent are funded by the state of Salzburg. “There will be a total closure of regarding eight weeks. The Postbus will not run as usual either.”

And the small bridge to the sports field – height bank – will be demolished in the summer and completely rebuilt. Together with Willi Hönegger, new sources are sought in the Tannwald/Saumoos area and above the elementary school. “We are currently well supplied with water, but we want to be prepared for the future.” At the end of August, work will begin on a camera inspection of the canal. The entire local sewer network, around 20 kilometers, is screened. “The local sewer system is checked every ten years.”

The rehabilitation of the Schlögelbergweg, including renewal of the drainage, will be implemented from the last week of September to mid-October. “In the area between the Müllner curve and the place-name sign, the substructure and asphalt layer will be completely renewed. The existing drainage of the road is broken. In the course of this, the upper part will also be included in the drainage. Rides will then only be possible to a limited extent,” says Lüftenegger. From June 26th to July 8th there are educational days in St. Margarethen. Motto: diversity – village – nature. “Mogreathn” pure!

Matthias Löcker delivered an exciting guest contribution. In the Agri-PV project, the young farmer is working on a forward-looking public participation model.
