After the bitter 1-0 defeat once morest St. Johann on Friday, the relegation of the Nonntaler is sealed. Grünau, on the other hand, is in the upper play-off.
After the stragglers Hallein and Grödig, the third relegated team in the Salzburg regional league has been fixed since Friday. The SAK was extremely unfortunate to lose to St. Johann and now has no chance in the last two rounds to reach the upper play-off (top seven). “Extremely bitter. Our very young team sold very dearly and deserved more,” said SAK coach Roman Wallner following the bankruptcy. The Nonntalers had two chances to take the lead through youngster Nikola Vidovic, but the attacker failed twice on the crossbar.
Only chance used cold
St. Johann was luckier: The Pongauers were able to celebrate the decisive goal in the 82nd minute through joker Sebastian Oberkofler, whose deflected shot found the goal following a corner kick. “We were very lucky and took advantage of our only chance to score”, St. Johann’s coach Ernst Lottermoser admitted following the second spring win.
Grünau celebrates a 2-0 win
In the second game on Friday, Grünau won 2-o in Seekirchen and thus secured participation in the upper play-off. “A deserved victory. We set the tone and didn’t allow much,” said Grünau coach Bernhard Kletzl following the away win. The goals were scored by Valdrin Kadrija (36′) and Christian Schnöll (55′).
Top game in Pongau
On Saturday (3 p.m.) the top game between table leaders Bischofshofen and the first pursuer Austria Salzburg takes place in Pongau. “With a win, we’ll have qualification for the national play-off and the ticket for the Westliga 2023/24 in our pockets. That’s our goal,” emphasizes BSK coach Andreas Fötschl, who is not suspended despite his five yellow cards . Reason: Coaches only have to pause following exclusions. His opponent Christian Schaider has to do without the two leading players Johannes Zottl and Rene Zia in Schlager.
Furthermore, Saalfelden and Anif as well as the two stragglers Grödig and Hallein will duel on Saturday. The Tennengau derby between Golling and Kuchl is only on the program on Sunday. Because the renovation work on Gollinger Platz has not yet been completed, the game will take place in Scheffau.
