SSDI payments coming Wednesday: Who will receive the payment?

If you’re wondering if you’re one of the lucky ones, here’s who will be getting paid this week.

This coming Wednesday, August 21, many Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) beneficiaries will receive their long-awaited deposit.

Since 1997, the Social Security Administration (SSA) has implemented a staggered schedule for distributing SSDI payments, meaning that not all beneficiaries receive their income on the same day. Payments are organized based on each beneficiary’s date of birth.

In particular, if your birthday falls between the 11th and 20th of the month, you should keep an eye out, as this Wednesday is when you are expected to receive your deposit. These payments are made via direct deposit and should appear in your bank account on the date mentioned.

On the other hand, those born between the 1st and 10th of the month already received their payment on the second Wednesday of August. Those whose birthdays fall between the 21st and 31st can expect their payment on the fourth Wednesday of the month.

Special cases

As for special cases, if you have been receiving SSDI benefits since before May 1997 or if you are enrolled in the Supplemental Security Income (SSI) program, your payments follow a different schedule. In these cases, you will receive your SSDI on the 1st of each month, while the SSI payment is made on the 3rd.

Wait up to 3 days

If your payment does not arrive on time, the SSA recommends waiting at least three business days before taking further action. It is advisable to contact your bank to confirm that there are no issues with the deposit. If the issue persists, contact your local Social Security office for assistance.

For those still receiving their payments in the form of paper checks, it is recommended to wait three additional days after the mailing date before contacting the SSA to request a review or replacement check.

Be sure to check your account this Wednesday – your SSDI payment could be coming soon!
