Mister Di Maso’s Special Athletes: Wearing Red and White with Pride!
news-description">Mister Di Maso’s special athletes will wear red and white.
In a move that merges sport, spirit, and social responsibility, SSC Bari and ASD Redentore Bari have teamed up to support young athletes with disabilities. We’re talking about a partnership that’s about as refreshing as finding an extra fry at the bottom of the bag! These clubs aren’t just kicking the ball; they’re kicking down the barriers of social exclusion while dribbling through personal challenges!
A Colorful Commitment to Inclusion
Under the wise guidance of Mister Michele Pugliese and the legendary Filippo Di Maso, these young ‘superstars’ will strut their stuff in the upcoming DCPS championships, proudly donning the vibrant red and white. That’s right, folks! They’re not just wearing colors; they’re waving flags for integration and personal development—and who doesn’t like a good flag-waving?!
The DCPS, established in 2019, focuses on making football as accessible as a packet of crisps at a pub! With over 100 clubs and 200 teams participating, this initiative has grown like my waistline when left alone with a pizza! It’s about inclusivity and ensuring that everyone can experience the beautiful game, even if it’s from a different angle than what we’re used to.
Breaking Barriers with Football
Recently, a significant memorandum of understanding was signed between the FIGC, CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee), and DCPS—valid until June ’26. This is a fancy way of saying, “Let’s keep this good thing going, shall we?” The goal? Break down barriers—legal, metaphorical, and sometimes even those invisible walls in our minds that prevent us from seeing the skills these athletes have.
Since it kicked off, the Paralympic and Experimental Division has amassed some serious stats! As we lurch into the 2024/25 season, we now have 4000 members, including 3000 players and 1000 managers and coaches. That’s like turning up to a party that was meant for 100 and finding out it’s a rave—everyone’s here, and they mean business!
Football: The Ultimate Uniter
Football isn’t merely a game; it’s practically a universal language—we even have the “silent whistles” for when the referee has had enough! Gabriele Gravina, the president of FIGC, says it best: “Football belongs to everyone.” It’s not just a slogan but a movement—an anthem for inclusion. Much like Ricky Gervais, it’s unapologetic!
So, get ready folks! As the athletes step onto the pitch, they’ll not only be playing for victory but scoring big points for acceptance, self-empowerment, and giving the old “us vs. them” a good old kick-up-the-backside! The message is clear: every kick, every save, every goal, and every cheer is a step toward a more inclusive society. Now who’s ready to see some football?
The boys of ASD Redentore Bari might just take the world by storm, one red and white jersey at a time!

In a pioneering collaboration, SSC Bari and ASD Redentore Bari have joined forces to champion social integration, enhance personal well-being, and promote both physical and mental health, specifically focusing on the individual development of young athletes with disabilities.
With a commitment to fostering these important objectives, the red and white club has officially ‘adopted’ special kids from the local community, who will be guided by Mister Michele Pugliese alongside the director of the technical area, Filippo Di Maso. This initiative will see these young athletes participate in the 1st and 2nd DCPS championships for the 2024-25 season, representing their club’s distinctive colors with pride.
Launched in 2019, the DCPS (Paralympic and Experimental Football Division) aims to maximize the participation of individuals with disabilities in football. The division’s competitions currently feature involvement from over 100 clubs and more than 200 teams, many of which are affiliated with professional teams across Serie A, B, and C, alongside amateur clubs. This initiative stems from the legacy of the “Fourth Category – football and disability” tournament, which was successfully promoted by the FIGC between 2016 and 2019.
A significant memorandum of understanding was established in early November between the FIGC, CIP (Italian Paralympic Committee), and DCPS. This agreement, effective until June 2026, seeks to further galvanize the use of football as a vital medium for inclusion, aiming to dismantle barriers and promote sports engagement among individuals with disabilities.
In just five years, the Paralympic and Experimental Division has made impressive strides, boasting 4000 members—comprising 3000 players and 1000 managers and coaches—at the start of the 2024/25 sports season. The division features 240 teams and a robust calendar that will facilitate approximately 1200 matches across the nation. This pioneering project has received unwavering support from UEFA from its inception, through the HatTrick IV program, which acknowledges its outstanding and unique contributions to the sporting landscape.
“Football belongs to everyone” is not simply a slogan; it embodies the tangible commitment that the Federation strives to uphold daily through an expansive and ambitious inclusion program,” declared the president of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina.
