The institution conducts an analysis when a person who pays taxes to Social Security cannot work due to a physical or mental issue.
This detailed study takes into account age, level of education and work experience to determine if you are suitable for a specific job.
SSA Jobs Update
Because of this, the SSA uses a database containing various jobs, which helps the applicant determine if he or she can still work.
The SSA just eliminated 114 occupations, including more than 12,000 types of jobs, in one update.
Gone from the new list are jobs that have already disappeared from the labor market, such as pneumatic tube operator, microfilm processor and nut sorter.
Obsolete jobs
According to some experts, the SSA will no longer be able to reject any applicant citing any of these jobs. They will now only consider the occupations that are most relevant when determining whether an applicant can work or not.
Jobs classified as obsolete are: canary breeder, character impersonator, directory service operator, ear inspector, egg processor, dramatic arts historian and film projectionist.
