MINISTER of Finance Sri Mulyani believes that the forum at the Constitutional Court (MK) is one way to maintain public reason by discussing the ins and outs of the state revenue and expenditure budget (APBN).

Sri Mulyani conveyed this when presenting her statement in the follow-up hearing to the 2024 General Election Results Dispute (PHPU) at Building I of the Indonesian Constitutional Court, Jakarta, Friday (5/4).

“We believe that this forum at the noble Constitutional Court is one way to maintain public reason by explaining and discussing how the APBN is a means of mutual cooperation for the nation’s children, where those who are able to contribute more and those who are unable need to be helped,” said Sri Mulyani in front of eight constitutional judge.

According to Sri Mulyani, discussing at the MK forum is something to be grateful for because this forum can encourage healthy discussions and reflections on nationalism for society.

“Especially the younger generation should be called and participate in living a good public life through continuous and tireless improvement,” he said.

Furthermore, he said the APBN was an important and strategic instrument as well as a determinant for achieving state goals. Sri Mulyani emphasized that the APBN must be managed and executed responsibly with good, transparent and accountable governance.

The APBN, said the Minister of Finance, is expected to be a means for all elements of the nation to participate and contribute.

“We hope that through the political process which has so far been carried out in an open, transparent and accountable manner, we must continue to maintain the APBN as the foundation and political capital of the Indonesian nation to achieve its state goals,” he said.

He said that many other countries in the world were experiencing economic, social and even political crises due to poor APBN management. However, Sri Mulyani said we should be grateful, Indonesia was able to maintain the APBN instruments in a credible and healthy manner.

“This is an achievement that must continue to be maintained,” he stressed.

Today, Friday (5/4), the MK summoned four ministers from the Advanced Indonesia Cabinet, namely Coordinating Minister for PMK Muhadjir Effendy, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Airlangga Hartarto, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani, and Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharini.

Four ministers were summoned to provide information and were further investigated by constitutional judges in the follow-up hearing of the 2024 Presidential Election PHPU case filed by the Anies Baswedan-Muhaimin Iskandar legal team and the Ganjar Pranowo-Mahfud MD legal team. (Ant/Z-1)
