Squeezing, pushing and shoving ashes for good luck at Ba Binh Duong pagoda

On the evening of February 5, thousands of people suffocated to burn incense and collect ashes for good luck at Ba Thien Hau Pagoda (Binh Duong).

Many people do not choose to pick up the ashes but try to come forward to stick an incense stick to pray for luck and fortune.

Outside the main hall, the number of people waiting is increasing day by day.

The Ba Thien Hau Kieu Parade begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m.

A large number of people waited for a long time inside the temple to wait for Kieu Ba to return.

After returning, the temple’s representative did all the rituals before letting the people back inside to continue to burn incense and ask for blessings.

The ceremony to worship Ba is conducted at midnight on January 14 to the morning of January 15. Most of the pilgrims are Vietnamese of Chinese origin from all over the world. During these two days, there are many attractive performances imbued with folklore and close to the people such as the appearance of many legendary characters, the parade of floats, gongs, drums, flags, lions and dragons.

Compared to the two years affected by the Covid-19 epidemic in 2021 and 2022, this year the number of visitors to attend festivals, spring trips and pray for luck at Ba Thien Hau Pagoda has increased again. It is estimated that from New Year’s Eve to the evening of January 31 (ie the 10th of the Lunar New Year), more than 100,000 visitors come to visit and ask for her blessings.
