Square Enix wants to buy studios a week after selling developers Tomb Raider and Deus Ex

She failed Square Enix sell their biggest western studiosas announced the desire to buy and open new ones.

Recall that last week Square Enix announced the sale to a Swedish conglomerate Embracer Group three studios. Behind Crystal Dynamics, Eidos Montreal, Square Enix Montreal and an IP directory including Tomb Raider i Deus Exthe company intends to receive 300 million dollars.

The official statement said that the deal would allow Square Enix to focus on investments in blockchain, artificial intelligence and cloud technologies.

During the announcement of its latest quarterly financial results, Square Enix clarified that the sale will enable sustainable growth through “selection and concentration of company resources” and better alignment of overseas publishing activities with its Tokyo headquarters.

Square Enix noted that it intends to partly change its strategy as a result of creating new intellectual property, accelerating decision making through integrated group management, and “expanding game development capabilities through the creation of new studios, mergers and acquisitions etc”.
