The spread of fake news and digital content inciting illegal immigration led to the arrest of six people by police.

In detail, the elements of the Wilaya Judicial Police Service in the city of Tetouan, in coordination with the services of the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance, arrested, at noon today, Saturday, the 31st of this month, six people, including a minor, aged between 16 and 31 years, on suspicion of their involvement in spreading fake news and digital content inciting the organization of illegal immigration.

The National Security Information Vigilance Services had monitored publications and digital content claiming prior preparation to storm the security fence between the city of Fnideq and the city of Ceuta, and also inciting users of social media sites and applications to illegal immigration.

Technical research and field investigations have led to the identification of the suspects and their arrest in the cities of Tetouan, Casablanca, Souk El Arbaa, Ksar El Kebir and Tangier.

The suspects were subjected to judicial investigation procedures conducted under the supervision of the competent Public Prosecution, to uncover the real motives behind committing these criminal acts, noting that investigations and inquiries are still ongoing to arrest the rest of the participants and contributors to fabricating and publishing this false content and news.

This security operation is part of the strict measures and intensive efforts made by the General Directorate of National Security and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance to combat illegal immigration networks and human trafficking.
