WASHINGTON, United States (EFE).— Melania Trump, wife of the former US president and Republican presidential candidate, believes that the United States “needs her husband” and that the “country is suffering a lot” from the management of the last few years of the Administration of Democrat Joe Biden.
In an exclusive interview with the American network Fox, the first granted in two years, the wife of the former president defended Trump’s management at the head of the White House between 2017 and 2021, and said that the record of “Biden and Harris (vice president) and current Democratic candidate) speaks for itself” and “not in a good way.”
“The country is suffering. People cannot buy the usual necessities for their families. We have wars all over the world. The soldiers are dying. They are dying under this administration due to weak leadership. The border is open and dangerous. A lot of fentanyl is coming in, killing our young people. It’s very difficult to see,” Melania said in an interview with the FOX network.
The former first lady, who does not usually spend time in the media, encouraged citizens to vote for Donald Trump, since during his term “we did not have any war. People were prospering. They had work. “They could support their families, so I think the American people need to decide what they really want.”
In the conversation, released before the launch of what will be her memoirs titled “Melania” and which will be published in October, she remembers the two assassination attempts that her husband has suffered during the electoral campaign and in a period of two months.
The first occurred when Thomas Crooks opened fire on the former president at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania. The shots grazed and wounded Trump in the ear, killed former Pennsylvania Fire Chief Corey Comperatore, and wounded two rally attendees: David Dutch and James Copenhaven.
Melania confesses that she didn’t find out immediately. “I ran to the TV, rewound it and watched it,” he recalled.
The former president and Melania, a former Slovenian model, married in 2005 and have a son, Barron, 18 years old. Donald Trump’s two previous marriages were also with models: Ivana Zelnickova, with whom he had three children, Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric, and Marla Maples, mother of his daughter Tiffany.
