With the expansion of widgets to the locked screen, from the iOS 16many applications have started to use the feature not as a way to display data, but as a simple and practical launcher, which allows you to access it with a tap.
The newest software to adopt this model is Spotifywhich now has a very simple widget option — visually, it is nothing more than the company’s logo — which works as a kind of shortcut to take users to the streaming service’s app directly from the locked screen.
The process of adding the widget is the same as always: just tap and hold on the locked screen, choose one of the already created screens (or create a new one) and tap on the “Personalize” button. Then, just choose the “Locked Screen” option and select Spotify from the list of widgets by tapping the area reserved for them (below the clock).
Obviously, to carry out this procedure, you must have iOS 16.0 or higher installed on your iPhone, as well as the latest version of Spotify available on App Store (version 8.8.26).
It is worth remembering that Spotify also has widget options for the home screen. They were launched in 2020, shortly following Apple implemented the feature in iOS 14, and display lists of recently played artists, albums, playlists and podcasts.
