After various controversies that enveloped Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, Spotify ended the deal between them. The pair previously produced podcast content that aired on the Spotify platform.
Spotify and the Harry-Meghan Markle company agreed and agreed to part ways on good terms.
“Spotify will not be renewing the second episode of the Meghan and Harry Archetype Podcast. Their podcast contains 12 episodes,” said a statement by Spotify and Archewell Studio.
“We are proud to have drawn together,” he continued.
At the end of 2020, they made a cooperation contract with a predicted value of IDR 374 billion. When the collaboration was made, Spotify promised to make several series but in the end one series materialized.
The podcast deal is one of the major commercial deals the couple made following quitting British royal duties and moving to the US in 2020.
When it was announced in late 2020, the Duke of Sussex said the project on Spotify would bring out different perspectives and voices you may not have heard before. On the Archetypes Podcast, Meghan Markle interviews well-known figures like Serena Williams and Mariah Carey regarding stereotypes regarding women.
In December 2022, Archetype was honored with the top podcast award at the People’s Choice Awards in Los Angeles. At that time, Meghan Markle said she enjoyed chatting with the guests she had invited.
“I love delving deep into meaningful conversations with my diverse and inspiring guests, laughing and learning with them. It’s been hard work full of love,” said Meghan Markle.
Reports from US media say the royal couple failed to meet Spotify’s required productivity benchmarks. On the other hand, there are also reports that Spotify is cutting 200 jobs in its podcast division following its big period in the media. They say they are starting a strategic adjustment.
Since separating from the royal family, Harry and Meghan have sought to leverage their global fame to become financially independent.
Including a multi-million dollar content deal with Netflix and Harry’s mega contract with publisher Penguin Books. From publishers, Harry has published his record-breaking autobiography Spare.
