Phew of relief in Charleroi! The Zebras showed courage on the Westerlo pitch this Friday evening (0-1), at the opening of the 28th day of the Pro League. Thanks to this success, Sporting, now eleventh, temporarily leaves the red zone and will have its fate in its hands in the event of OHL’s defeat once morest Union on Saturday.

After a long round of observation between the two teams, Westerlo created a great chance from a set point. Arthur Piedfort thought he had opened the score, however the Westerlo player’s joy suddenly came down when the match referee canceled the goal for a prior foul by a teammate (23rd).

Just following the hour mark, Sporting Charleroi scored its first shot on target of the match. Well served at the penalty spot by Jeremy Petris, Perfect Guiagon opened the scoring on the Westerlo pitch (64th, 0-1).

Westerlo came close to equalizing ten minutes later but the header Kyan Vaesen, freshly entered the game, passed just above the Zebras’ cages (79th). In the final moments of the meeting, Emin Bayram sent a pivotal shot which shook the Carolo frame but also the players (90th + 3).
