Sporting Clube de Braga started, this Monday, the works for the construction of the Centenary Stadium, which will serve as the “home” of women’s football and the men’s B team. The project should be finished at the beginning of the 2024/25 season.
The Centenary Stadium – foreseen since the beginning of the implementation of the first phase of the Sports City, in 2017 – completes the ambitious infrastructure project of the club from Braga. “SC Braga takes another step towards the future”, underlines the community, in a statement.
The equipment “will have capacity for 2600 spectators, in addition to a car park with 250 spaces, four changing rooms, a medical department, gymnasium, first-aid room, anti-doping room, work rooms, a press room, a tribune intended for social communication and LED lighting, which makes it possible to hold games at night”.
The Sports City (which has a global area of implementation of 30 hectares of land, provided by the Municipality) includes, in the first phase, a building that functions as a Training Center, nine training fields, eight 11-a-side soccer fields and one soccer field. seven and a beach soccer field.
Two of the eleven soccer fields – SC Braga also says – are qualified to receive official matches and have covered benches with capacity for 650 and 500 seats. The seven-a-side soccer field has a covered terrace with 300 seats. The second phase of Cidade Desportiva – which will be inaugurated before the summer, as JN learned, presided over by Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa -, includes an underground car park with capacity for 250 places and assumes four large functional spaces, in a total area of construction of 30,000 square meters: administrative services, club shop and support services for members; Multipurpose Pavilion with capacity for 1400 seats; residential area with 52 rooms, dining area and rest/leisure area; support space for professional teams, consisting of changing rooms, gym, physiotherapy, hydrotherapy with swimming pool, work offices, among other valences.
This project will also include the SC Braga Museum (with a total area of around 3,500 square meters), which will open in January 2025.
